Turfgrass History

1980

During the 1980’s, the turfgrass breeding program started to expand under the direction of Dr. C. Reed Funk.

1991

Rutgers started the Center for Turfgrass Science.

1993

Dr. Bruce B. Clarke became Director of the Center for Turfgrass Science

1996

Dr. Meyer started serving as Director of the Turfgrass Breeding Project at Cook College, Rutgers University. The previous 21 years after graduate school were spent as a commercial turfgrass breeder and Corporate President in Oregon.
