Rutgers 250 Breeding Celebration and Luncheon

Rutgers 250 Breeding Event Video

The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) in celebration of Rutgers University’s 250th anniversary, hosted a five-course luncheon featuring Rutgers 250 All-Star Varieties of plants and shellfish. Speakers included Rutgers breeders Jim Simon and Tom Molnar, who provided insight on the development of new varieties (such as downy mildew-resistant basil and eastern filbert blight-resistant hazelnut trees). Guest speakers included Secretary Douglas H. Fisher of the New Jersey Department of Agriculture as well as New Jersey food industry entrepreneur Patrick Leger of First Field.

Attendees enjoy salad and seafood as the Rutgers 250 Breeding Celebration and Luncheon commences.
